Emerging Tools and Techniques for Web Development

The Center of Excellence in Web Technologies, Department of Computer Applications –MCA have organized a Virtual 3-days National Level Faculty Development Program in the area of Web Development, “Emerging Tools and Techniques For Web Development” during 18-20 January 2023. The FDP program helped the participants to get extensive knowledge and hands on training in latest trends in Web Development from an industry perspective. The resource persons for the FDP were Mr.Sandeep M Gokhale, CEO, Techvito LLP, Mr. Bharath Ravi, Senior Software Developer, Digit Insurance, Bangalore, Dr.Sree Rekha, Engineering Leader at Amazon, Redmond, Washington, USA and Dr. Priyanka Verma, Sr.Assistant Professor, IIS Deemed to be University, Jaipur.
Advances in Research Methodology and Publication Techniques

The Department of Computer Applications-MCA and Research Cell (Anveshana) under the aegis of IQAC, Dayananda Sagar College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized a Faculty Development Programme on "Advances in Research Methodology and Publication Techniques" on 10th MAY 2022 to provide a learning platform for academicians, aspiring teachers, and research scholars. The distinguished speakers from academia were Dr. Bharathi S, Professor, Dr.Ambedkar Institute of Technology and Dr. Ashwini K B, Associate Professor R.V College of Engineering, Bangalore. The topics covered were latest developments in research methodologies, effective research writing, review process and journal article writing, and publication practices.
National Level Faculty Development Program on "Data Science with Python“

Department of Computer Applications-MCA, DSCASC has organized an Online National Level Faculty Development Program on "Data Science with Python“ on 28.01.2021 with an objective to provide a learning platform for academicians, aspiring teachers, and research scholars. The resource persons for the FDP were Dr .Bharathi and Prof. Sobha Rani from Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Bangalore. The FDP was conducted in two sessions and covered the topics: Introduction to Data Science, numpy for Data Science, pandas for Data Science, Visualization techniques, Probability & Statistics for Data Science, Hypothesis testing, Predictive Analytics, Machine Learning algorithms, classification, Regression, Clustering with hands on demonstration.

N, and Mr. Dattamoorti Bhat who is Alumni of the MCA Department and currently working as Data analyst at Anand Diagnostic Laboratory, During the talk they discussed topics like Introduction of Power BI, Usage of Power BI Desktop & Working with power Bi tools and Services with real time data.

Invited expert was Ms. Priyanka V, Alumni of the MCA Department and currently working as Associate Developer at Mindset Consultant. During the talk she discussed topics like Introduction of Github, Usage of Github and Version Control System, Different Tools and also explained Branch Handling. Later the speaker gave idea about how to store projects in Github.

During the session he discussed topics like Introduction of Income Tax, Meaning of tax Exempt, Understanding Tax Brackets and Tax Benefits.
Full Stack Web Development - JavaScript & React Boot Camp

Summary: Department of Computer Applications-MCA, DSCASC is organizing a 40 Hrs Training Program on Full Stack Web Development - JavaScript & react boot camp from 25th January 2023 till 22nd April 2023 to our MCA Students. The expert speaker of the Training Program is Mr. Sandeep Gokhale, Alumni – 2003-06, CEO Techvito. During the Training Program he discussed topics like Working of web applications, Web sockets, HTML, HTTP, Developer tools, JS primitives, Hoisting, Variables and scoping Java Script, ReactJS, Redux Hoisting and Many more. Many examples and sample web pages were explained. Students have practically learned the concepts with real time examples. The Training was very interactive and enlightening. The session ended up with quizzes and assignments.

Summary: Department of MCA organized a session by PrinstonSmart for Internship Opportunities for the students of 3rd MCA. Mr.Asif from PrinstonSmart explained about the company and discussed latest technologies and opportunities available. Summary: Department of MCA in association with Placement Department-DSI conducted an Orientation session for Neo PAT by Mr. Guru Venkatesh, Vice President, Training & Placement, DSI for the MCA I Semester students. Mr.Guru Venkatesh started the session with explanation of rules and regulations of placements at DSI. Neo PAT platform has been introduced for the students It is an excellent placement support application used for placement preparation and students are being trained in aptitude skills, coding skills in C,DS and C++.

Summary: Department of Computer Applications – MCA in association with Centre for Innovation and Leadership have organized a full day activity based workshop on 22nd Feb 2023 titled “Team Work and Inter Personal Skills” for I Semester MCA students. Listening Skills, Persuasion, Accountability, Cooperation topics under Team Work and Open Communication, Respect, Involvement, Fairness under Interpersonal Skills were explained using various activities. The students participated in the workshop with more enthusiasm. Trainer for the workshop was Mr. Raghavendra Prasad.

Summary: The Department of Computer Applications-MCA in association with CIL organized workshop for 3rd Sem MCA students on the topic of “Corporate Etiquette and Culture”. The training program was aimed to enhance the proficiency in email drafting, creativity, develop coordination ability, improves presentation skills and communication skills and soon. The trainer kept the session engaging by assigning some activities. The trainer interacted with students by asking questions and sharing their experience in corporate sector.

Summary: Department of Computer Applications- MCA in association with Centre for Innovation and Leadership – CIL conducted training for the students MCA 3rdSem in “Pre-placement Training”. The trainers Mr.Vishwas and Ms.Archana appraised the students the importance of Pre-placement training. The students were divided into 2 groups and activities were planned. Group discussion, resume building and interview skills were discussed and students had to have a one on one discussion with the trainer.

Summary: Department of Computer Applications – MCA and Placement Cell Gamya conducted a Pre Placement Orientation by Mr. Guru Venkatesh Vice President, Training & Placement, DSI for MCA III Semester students. Prof.Suneetha, HOD-MCA and Prof.Srivatsala have welcomed Mr. Guruvenkatesh for the session. Mr. Guruvenkatesh started the session with a brief introduction about his journey to success. He spoke about creative thinking and enhancing soft skills. He emphasized on the soft skills. He threw some light on the job trends in 2022 explained the latest requirements of the corporates. He gave plenty of examples of great leaders and visionaries to the students. He threw light on few traits required for being passionate and to have a purpose in life and career. He concluded by advising the students to make use of the golden opportunities available. The students asked few questions and said they looked forward to the best campus placement.

He started the seminar by explaining the definition of Management. He then explained Managerial skills and Management Strategies. He explained the purpose of understating Management perspectives to have a better Software career. He also explained the students the skills required for becoming a Manager. The session was very informative and at the last there was an interaction between the students with lots of question and answers.

The workshop was organized to help the students to learn the tips and tricks of solving aptitude questions in placement and competitive examinations. Trainer was Mr. Shanthamallappa, Competitive exams – Trainer, CIL. Students were taught shortcuts and made to solve variety of questions to learn and practice. Overall, the workshop was great help to the students.

Summary: The Department of Computer Applications-MCA and Research Cell (Anveshana) under the aegis of IQAC, Dayananda Sagar College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized a Three days Research Boot Camp for MCA students during 19th to 21st May 2022 to build research competency in them. Dr. Suma V, Professor and Head, Department of Computer Science and Design, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Bangalore served as the resource person for the boot camp. The topics covered were Introduction to research and Research Methodology, Research Paper writing and Publication, Patenting and Intellectual Property rights. The research boot camp was successful in making the students understand the research process extensively and thus facilitate to produce higher-quality research papers.

Mr.Sayar Mitra is a Consultant in CapGemini and is also an Alumnus of the department. He started the seminar by explaining the responsibilities of a business analyst. He explained the students the skills required for becoming a business analyst. He threw some light on career opportunities available in this field. Over all the entire session was a very fruitful one.

Summary: MCA Department in Association with Centre for Innovation and Leadership (CIL) conducted Two days training on “Communication Skills” for the 1st Sem MCA Students on 23 rd and 24th March 2022 between 9.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. Day-1 session was handled by Ms.Archana and she conducted many activities to emphasize the importance of communication skills, dressing sense, body language etc., The students enjoyed the activities and were very happy to have improved their communication skills. Day-2 was handled by Ms.Jeevitha. The session was more on presentation skills. Each student was given few words and they had to form a story and narrate it. This exercise was enjoyed by the students and overall the students were very happy with Two day CIL sessions and gave excellent reviews. It was fun learning for all of them

Summary: Department of MCA conducted a session on “Essential Employability Communication Skills” by Skill Development Specialist Mr. Krishna Kupapachi for MCA 2021 batch as part of Induction program on Day-5. Mr. Krishna covered essential topics of how to face interview in offline and online mode, technical skills required for computer science students, soft skills required and personality traits essential to face corporate world. Mr. Krishna explained dos and don’ts of facing an interview, HR and technical interview both aspects he covered in detail. He emphasized on practices like punctuality, creativity, functionalities etc to crack the interviews. Pre-Interview and Post-interview skills were also emphasized upon. There was a question and answer session at the end of the session. Mr. Krishna patiently answered all the queries.

Summary: As a part of Induction Program for MCA 2021 batch on the Day-4, Dr. Abid Hussain, Associate Professor, Career Point University conducted a session on the topic of IOT innovations with Industry 5.0. He started the session by introduction of IoT and how IoT is relevant in today’s world. He thereby spoke about benefits and drawbacks of IOT. He explained about Industry 5.0 and the new revolution in the IT industry. He also threw light benefits and drawbacks of Industry 5.0. Challenges and opportunities in the industry 5.0 were also discussed upon. He also appraised the students regarding the career opportunities in IOT.

Summary: As a part of Induction Program for MCA 2021 batch on the Day-3 Prof. Shivamma from Dayananda Sagar University held a session for the MCA students on the topic titled ”Data analysis using R in healthcare”.
Prof.Shivamma gave introduction to Data analysis and explained the difference between data and health care data. Benefits of R programming and how R can be used for data analysis was explained. Statistical skills required for R were explained. A demo of R studio was given. Also what are the roles and responsibilities of Healthcare analyst and requires skills for one to become an analyst were told. Career opportunities in Healthcare Data analysis were pondered upon. Question and answer session was held at the end of the session.

Dr. Anubha Jain gave an introduction about Industry IOT 4.0 and explained about the revolution of IOT from 1.0 to 4.0 and informed about the key feature & key technologies of IOT 4.0 and informed about how IOT is taking its place in all the fields like agriculture, automobile etc. Later she explained about the challenges and issues how IOT is facing in the real time. Summary: As a part of Induction Program for MCA 2021 Batch on the Day-2 Mr. Abhinandan, Alumni Student & Associate Engineer, DEVOPS from Global Logic held a session for MCA students on the topic titled” “Devops & Cloud AWS”.
Mr. Abhinandan gave an introduction about Devops & Cloud AWS and explained about DevOps how it enables formerly—development, IT operations, quality engineering and security—to coordinate and collaborate to produce better, more reliable products. By adopting a DevOps culture along with DevOps practices and tools, teams gain the ability to better respond to customer needs, increase confidence in the applications they build and achieve business goals faster. Further he showed a real-time project working in Devops platform. The session was very informative at the last there was a interaction between the students with lots of question and answers.

Mr. Sandeep Gokhale gave an introduction about 13 Reasons Why!! And explained about curiosity, Learn and absorb, Be Visible – Findable, Question until you understand, Competitive, Improve Soft Skills & Mentorship. The students showed much interest and session was very informative. Question and answer session was held at the end of the session.

Summary: Department of MCA, In association with Centre of Innovation and Leadership -CIL has conducted a webinar on “Job Hunting Skills” by Mohammed Ashfaq, a motivational speaker, career coach and speaker. Coach Ashfaq started the session by posting a survey to find out about the students’ preparedness for facing the placements. He specifically questioned their soft skills preparation and tried to find out their requirements in soft skills. Also, he explained how the candidates are hired. Usage of Artificial Intelligence to pick the resumes was also highlighted. Finally, he explained how one should have LinkedIn Profile to gain more exposure to potential employers.

The workshop covered HTML, CSS, Java Script, User Interfaces, career prospects in UI programming and responsive website building with Bootstrap. Department of Computer Applications- MCA in association with Personal Counseling & Mentoring Cell have Organized a seminar on “Stress Management”. Shree Swami Mangalanathanandaji Maharaj from Ramkrishna aashram and Dr. Lipi Mukhopadyay, were the Resource persons of the session.. Shree Swami Mangalanathanandaji Maharaj addressed the students about “Using Stress to Evolve the Vivekananda way”. He also explained how to evolve through spiritual science finally ended his session with the quote “If you want to be happy share happiness”. Our second Chief guest Dr. Lipi Mukhopadyay addressed the students about “Psychosocial conditioning & behavior modification” she explained Psychosocial conditioning is what promotes us to think, believe, want and react in a way that is approved by society.

Under the guidance of IQAC-DSCASC the department of Computer Applications-MCA conducted an Drawing Competition for the students of I MCA on 8th April 2022.The competition was held in order to provide the awareness of Environment.
ISR CLUB- “Old Age Home Visit” on 26th Mar 2022

Department of Computer Applications- MCA in association with ISR Cell organized an "Old Age Home Visit" on 26th March 2022. Department of MCA organized and motivated students to create awareness about the neighborhood, to sensitize students towards social work and problems of aged people. The department visited "Prashanthi Old Age Home" at Mico Layout, Hongasandra, and Bengaluru by 10 A.M on 26th March, Saturday. Students and Faculty happily volunteered and donated the amount for the trust to help the aged people. The young enthusiasts cheered and greeted with a big smile and spent some valuable time with the aged people. They distributed fruits, biscuits and medicines according to their needs. Students also had some conservation with gentleman towards politics. It was an overwhelming experience and quite difficult to digest the reality that all were witnessed the elderly parents who were staying in Homes. It is an opportunity to discover Empathy among ourselves.

The alumni meet was to reconnect with the Alumni and celebrate their success and various achievements. The Alumni Meet started with a welcome address by Dr. Nagaraj Shenoy Principal DSCASC. Mr. Mohammed Azhar Nawaz business group head, initiate, IPG media Brands was the chief guest and MR. Anirudh K R Manager-Advertisement and sales ZEE Entertainment Ltd was the guest of honor. Election was conducted to select alumni Office Bearers, Mr Sabyasachi MCA alumni was elected as secretary. Mr Ashwin, Mr. Sandeep Gokhale and Miss Niharika Sinha were honored for their contribution in providing Internships and placements for the students. Students performed few cultural events to entertain the guests. The meet ended by a thanks giving speech followed by lunch.

Description:Alumni Association of MCA Department, organized a Virtual Alumni Meet on 7th August 2021. Prof.Sarakutty, Member, Alumni Association, highlighted the role and decisions taken by the association during her welcome speech. Principal Dr. Nagaraj Shenoy graced the Occasion. Prof.Suneetha, HOD MCA expressed her pride over achievements and progress of alumni. This Alumni meet was graced with the attendance of over 60 alumni, Principal, HOD, faculty members and non teaching staff. The alumni shared their past memories about college and teachers. During the meet, the alumni were keen to initiate measures for the development of the department and decided to extend their help to organize programs in future. They also decided to open an online forum for further communications.

Onam Celebrations 2022

Onam was celebrated by the students of II MCA on 15th September 2022 in the department. The celebrations started with students creating a beautiful rangoli with flowers in the department quadrangle. Boys and Girls decorated the rangoli with enthusiasm. The students and the faculty were dressed up in the Kerala saree and dhothi.

A farewell party was Organized for MCA students on 13th November 2020 for the outgoing batch of class 2020 due to unprecedented times brought about by an invisible enemy COVID-19, staff and students arranged a farewell party for our seniors through this online platform no stone was left unturned to make this experience one kind of experience for our seniors the online farewell party 2020 was not any less than the regular farewell party. The Event concluded by all the students and teachers remembering those memories with the students and some amazing time they spent with this outgoing batch. Bidding them Farewell was emotional for everyone but also we were happy for their new beginnings.
